  Welcome

Dr. Bruce Levinton Working with the public since 1968 in the fields of human development, mental health and spiritual growth, I am aware that everybody has problems. At times life is difficult, and we may need help to discover opportunities for growth in the challenges we face. As a psychotherapist and consultant, I wish to create a supportive environment to help my clients discover more about their inner resources which could make life more fulfilling for them.

At this time, I am expanding my private practice and welcoming new referrals. I am currently offering individuals, couples, and family therapy, as well as industrial/organizational consultation. Also, I provide coaching for professional colleagues preparing for licensing exams.

In my practice, I welcome people of all ages, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and sexual orientations. I have the background and clinical experience to assist with a wide variety of problems and issues, including
  • Crisis resolution
  • Stress and fatigue
  • Depression
  • Anxiety and phobia
  • Spiritual issues
  • Relationships
  • Substance-related disorders
  • Parenting
  • Childhood/adolescent disorders
  • Eating disorders
  • Sexual or physical abuse
  • Self-esteem
  • Co-dependency
  • Grief and loss
  • Loneliness
  • Life threatening illnesses
  • Marital problems
  • Divorce
  • Creative blocks
  • Adjustment disorders or transitions
  • Personality disorders

I have made a commitment to personal competence and client well-being. I believe that every individual client, couple, or a family member has a unique set of resources, styles, and needs. To respect this individuality, I am competent in a number of approaches to therapeutic change. These include cognitive-behavioral, client-centered, solution-focused, and psychodynamic modalities. I am prepared to discuss with clients at the end of an evaluation period what kind of therapeutic method seems most appropriate, and approximately how long it can be expected to take.

As a Licensed Psychologist and a Licensed Marriage, Family Therapist, my chief duties include the following:

  • to serve my clients by protecting their health, safety, and welfare with integrity, honesty, and efficiency
  • to advocate the highest principles of professional psychological practice

  • Clinical therapy may begin with practical issues. However, the central focus of my work is to create a safe place for clients to explore who they really are, and to live from that deeper, more authentic part of themselves.
